Application Process:

Why do you need to see my transcripts?

Since Bayridge residents are dedicated to their studies we like to assure that applicants are equally focused. The transcripts help us with that assessment.

Who can fill out the letter of recommendation?

We ask that the recommendation letter is filled out by someone who is not a family member or close friend. A professor, academic advisor, or employer would be ideal.

Can I come for a tour of the facility?

Tours are offered in conjunction with the application interview.

How close are you to public transportation?

We are a couple of blocks away from the Hynes Convention Center and the Kenmore T stops. Also a number of bus lines run along Massachusetts Avenue, which is only a half block from Bayridge.

Do you offer parking?

There is no parking facility at Bayridge. However, residents with a car registered in Massachusetts can obtain a Back Bay resident sticker and park their cars on the street.

Do I need to clean the common areas?

We ask all the residents to pitch in to keep the place looking good, but we do have a staff that cleans the bathrooms and all the common areas Monday-Friday, so students can focus on their studies.

Are the bathrooms shared or individual?

The bathrooms are shared by floor, meaning about 10 people use the same space. Each is equipped with two showers, two toilets and several sinks. With the variety of schedules the residents keep there is almost never a line.

Can I do my laundry at Bayridge?

Yes, we have several coin-operated machines in the building. Just have a supply of quarters and detergent ready.

Can I opt out of the meals?

No, the meals are all part of the package. We find that residents actually end up saving both time and money by not needing to worry about cooking for themselves. Meals together also help contribute to the family atmosphere Bayridge strives to foster.

Are you able to accommodate my diet?

Unfortunately we cannot serve a variety of diets to the residents. If you cannot eat something, such as pork, for religious reasons, we are happy to offer an alternative.

What if I have class during the dinnertime?

Monday through Friday we offer a late tray option. By adding your name to the list, the kitchen staff will plate you that night’s dinner and leave it in a warmer for your return.

Do I have to be Catholic to live here?

Of course not. While Bayridge is affiliated with Opus Dei, we are open to women of all faiths.

Is there a curfew?

For safety purposes we close and lock the doors at midnight on the weekdays and 2:30 am on the weekends. If you plan to sleep at Bayridge that night we ask that you are home by those times.

Since this is an all-female residence can I bring in male guests?

For the safety and well-being of the residents, Bayridge is strictly for women. Your male guests can wait for you in the lobby or outside the house.

Are there any required activities for residents?

The only required activity is the occasional all-house meeting, about one per semester. The evening get-togethers and lectures are highly recommended but not mandatory.
